At Obuda University, RDI refers to applied research, technology development, and innovation activities that turn academic knowledge into real-world solutions. Through Initium, these efforts are focused on solving practical problems, validating ideas, and accelerating the path from concept to market.
We provide a range of services including contract research, technology assessment, proof-of-concept validation, prototype and MVP development, and access to university expertise. We also help with innovation strategy, interdisciplinary project teams, and facilitating industry-academia partnerships.
You can engage with us for a specific project, request a technical assessment, or explore open-ended innovation opportunities. We act as your gateway to the university’s talent, facilities, and research expertise, coordinating the right people and resources for your needs.
Yes. Our services are open to startups, SMEs, and corporates alike. We adapt our approach to match your size, budget, and innovation goals.
Absolutely. Our university regularly works with international partners and we can tailor projects to accommodate cross-border collaboration and time zones.
All seven (7) Obuda University faculties, as well as our research center (EKIK), are eligible to participate in RDI projects. We involve the most relevant research groups, labs, and technical experts based on the specific project needs.
We analyse your project requirements, then search our internal database of researchers, laboratories, and past project experience. We also liaise with faculty Deans to identify the most suitable experts.
It begins with an exploratory meeting to understand your needs. From there, we identify potential university partners, prepare a proposal or technical plan, agree on terms and start the project with professional coordination from our side.
It’s helpful to have a clear idea of your objectives, challenges, and expected outcomes. Technical details, budget ranges, and timelines will also help us match you with the right resources.
That’s fine. We can help you explore your sector’s emerging trends, identify opportunities, and shape a project brief together.
Yes. We can connect you with relevant national and EU funding opportunities, prepare joint applications, and integrate funding into your RDI plan.
Costs vary depending on the project scope, expertise involved, and required facilities. We provide a transparent quote after assessing your needs in detail.
We apply professional project management practices, regular progress reviews, and milestone tracking to ensure objectives are met on time and to the agreed standard.
We assemble interdisciplinary teams and coordinate them centrally to ensure smooth communication, aligned timelines, and integrated results.
Yes. Depending on whether the Faculty needs support with this. Initium can support the process from project kick-off to final delivery, we manage timelines, coordinate stakeholders, and monitor progress to keep everything on track.
Deans help identify suitable experts, ensure alignment with faculty priorities, and facilitate the smooth integration of academic resources into your project.
Yes. We can provide the technical expertise, facilities, and documentation needed for validation, and guide you through relevant certification procedures.
We work under strict confidentiality agreements and follow university and EU IP protection policies. Any ownership and licensing terms are agreed upon before the project begins.
